Reed & Mackay enhances maritime industry visa services through Nomadic partnership

LONDON, 23 August 2024 –The maritime industry now has access to the Panamanian Seaman’s Book via Reed & Mackay’s partner Nomadic.

This means Reed & Mackay can procure this essential document that ensures compliance with international maritime regulations.

While the Seaman’s Book does not replace valid passport and visa requirements, it can assist travellers in certain situation when transitioning and entering exiting port state controls. This official document records a seafarer’s experience and, furthermore, it helps process work visa applications.

“Energy and Marine are unique industries and, especially for offshore crew management, require specific, often complex, visa and compliance documentation,” Reed & Mackay General Manager Energy & Marine Graeme Fyvie says.

Through our partnership with Nomadic we can service our clients in a way that ensures crews can be agile and responsive to business needs, whether through online bookings or with our specialist travel consultants.”

What is a Panamanian Seaman’s Book?

The Seaman’s Book officially states that the holder is a seaman according to The International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping. All records of a seaman’s career, experience and certifications are kept within the book and it is essential for every seafarer to have the book with them while on board any ship.

The Seaman’s Books are issued by foreign flag states such as Panama and are required by the registered country on record for the rig or vessel.

How do I apply for one?

Reed & Mackay clients can begin the application process for a Panamanian Seaman’s Book by initially speaking to our specialist consultants who will guide you through.

How long does it take?

It can take between two to four weeks depending on the available documentation.
