7 epic event venues in Sweden

Scandi-style large-scale convention centres, mountain lodges, stylish manor houses and cool urban hotels. Sweden has a wealth of event venue options stretching from its Arctic north to its Baltic Sea coastlines in the south, located within scenic landscapes or vibrant cities. Plus the country has a well-deserved, long-standing reputation as a safe, clean, sustainable destination. And it’s easily accessible internationally and has great transport links throughout the country.

We asked our team of meetings and events experts in Sweden, with their extensive knowledge of event planning across the country, to highlight just a few of the many great spaces available for events of every size and theme.

Niehku Mountain Villa

Yasuragi

“Yasuragi is a perfect getaway spa and conference venue just outside Stockholm. The Japanese-inspired design creates a truly peaceful atmosphere and the food is absolutely amazing.”
Project Manager Meetings & Events Therese Sjoquist

The Swedish capital, Stockholm, is packed with a wide variety of hotels suitable for events. But for something a little different, the 191-room Yasuragi is a Japanese-inspired spa hotel located 20 minutes outside the city.

Designed by Japanese architect Yoji Kasajima, all its rooms have a view of Höggarnsfjärden and the Stockholm archipelago. Yet as well as its focus on relaxation, the hotel has ample conference facilities. There are 23 meeting rooms, including its largest that can accommodate up to 400. There’s a 500sqm roof terrace and groups can also book the entire hotel exclusively.

Furthermore, the hotel has a strong focus on team-building activities to suit all tastes. Choose from a wide range, from the Japanese martial art Kendo or Japanese calligraphy classes.

Hackholmssund

“Hackholmssund is a unique destination well-situated near Arlanda airport. The surrounding nature sets the stage for connection and unforgettable shared experiences.”
Project Manager Meetings & Events Sanna Andersson

Venues situated against the backdrop of Sweden’s natural beauty can help deliver more enriching event experiences for delegates. And one great example is Hackholmssund on the Mälaren peninsula, just 45 minutes from central Stockholm.

With three conference buildings, designed for 25, 30 and 50 delegates respectively, plus smaller informal meeting rooms, group bookings here can have total privacy, with exclusive access to the whole of Hackholmssund.

Another of the venue’s big draws is its locally sourced menus. The dishes use ingredients sourced from its own gardens or nearby farms or seafood sourced from its own fishing trips.

Surrounded by nature, yet Hackholmssund is less than an hour from Stockholm

Copperhill Mountain Lodge

“High up on the mountain in Åre, Copperhill Mountain Lodge rises majestically. A truly grand lodge hotel, tastefully built and offering a rich variety of activities for groups.”
Project Manager Meetings & Events Susanne Nordin

Delegate capacity for up to 600 across nine meeting spaces, 112 bedrooms, a spa, restaurants and bars may well be enough enticement to hold a meeting at Copperhill Mountain Lodge (lead image). Yet the mountains right on its doorstep provide that added allure for groups looking for something special for their event. Meeting rooms offer stunning views of the mountains of Åre and, after the meetings are finished, groups can enjoy activities such as skiing in the winter or hiking and cycling in the warmer months.

The lodge is located between Östersund in the west of Sweden and Trondheim in Norway and the airports in those destinations, plus can be reached by overnight train from Stockholm.

Salthamn

“Salthamn is a place created for meetings, food and sustainable enjoyment in the unique environment of Gotland.”
Reed & Mackay Project Manager, Meetings & Events Carsten Laursen

Sweden’s largest island, Gotland, is home to Salthamn, a place on the coast to stay, hold meetings and events and enjoy its restaurants and gardens. Groups can book here for small dinners or large events up to 500 guests.

Open all year round, four different event spaces are available. Its newest opening is an old freezer storage that has been converted into an event venue, suitable for hosting product launches, parties and trade shows.

For a completely different vibe, a former bathhouse – now private home of the founder of Salthamn – can be booked for private dinners, receptions, smaller meetings and retreats. Named the Sjöstugan villa, it also has a large terrace with views out to the Baltic Sea, ideal for cocktail receptions.

Ästad Vingård

“You might not know that Sweden produces excellent wine but, at Ästad Vingård, you can savour it in a truly stunning setting. Ästad Vingård is a perfect place for conferences and creative team building.”
Project Manager Meetings & Events Ludwig Bengtsson Backman

Around an hour south of Gothenburg lies Ästad Vingård, one of Sweden’s largest vineyards. Located in the nature reserve Åkulla Beech Forests, the vineyard has five conference rooms with capacity for between two and 60 people.

Guests can also stay at the site, enjoy its spa and dine at its Michelin-starred Restaurant ÄNG, which serves a Scandinavian tasting menu using local ingredients. And, of course, there’s the opportunity to try its organic wine. In addition, for delegates that want to get out and about after a morning of meetings, there are 12 nature reserves and more than six miles of hiking trails close by.

Ystad Saltsjöbad

“Ystad Saltsjöbad is set in a gorgeous seaside location, so delegates can take a dip in a variety of the venue’s own pools, enjoy a refreshing morning swim in the sea, and unwind with a cocktail as the sun sets over the horizon.”
Project Manager Meetings & Events Tina Melander

A location on the stunning southern-most coast of Sweden means delegates attending a meeting, event or conference at Ystad Saltsjöbad can enjoy inspiring beach views.

With 13 flexible meeting rooms, there’s plenty of space for a wide variety of events, from exclusive parties to conferences. The largest room, Bolsa Beach, can comfortably hold more than 300 people.

And, if you’re looking for somewhere for delegates to unwind after a long day of meetings, the venue offers its own Lido Club & Spa. Relax in warm indoor and outdoor pools, experience its bubbly Champagne pool, or take time out in the sauna with its sea views.

The venue is located around an hour’s drive from Malmö, 3.5 hours from Gothenburg and just 90 minutes from the Danish capital Copenhagen.
