{"id":85291,"date":"2025-11-17T14:39:07","date_gmt":"2025-11-17T14:39:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/reedmackay.com\/?p=85291"},"modified":"2025-12-12T14:48:25","modified_gmt":"2025-12-12T14:48:25","slug":"corporate-travel-air-fares-in-2026-what-travel-managers-need-to-know","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/reedmackay.com\/us\/corporate-travel-air-fares-in-2026-what-travel-managers-need-to-know","title":{"rendered":"Corporate travel airfares in 2026 &#8211; what travel managers will need to know"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The airfare landscape in 2026<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>With cost management continuing to be a concern for corporate travel professionals going into 2026, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businesstravelnewseurope.com\/Management\/Cost-and-compliance-among-top-buyer-concerns-for-2026#:~:text=Reducing%20leakage%20and%20managing%20traveller,further%20beyond%20the%20balance%20sheet.\">latest <em>Business Travel News Europe<\/em> survey<\/a>, there is some good news in that airfares are expected to stabilize globally next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After a few years of price increases, <a href=\"https:\/\/gbta.org\/global-business-travel-and-events-prices-set-to-stabilize-through-2025-and-2026-amid-looming-economic-uncertainty\/\">Global Business Travel Association (GBTA)\u2019s 2026 Global Business Travel Forecast<\/a> projects a more modest 0.4% increase for corporate travel airfares for the next 12 months. This indicates a shift towards more predictable pricing after years of post-pandemic volatility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis more modest fare increase can be attributed to airlines bringing back routes or introducing new ones because of demand, not just because they had them pre-pandemic,\u201d Reed &amp; Mackay Commercial Enablement Manager Jo Shilling explains. \u201cThis extra capacity on popular routes should help encourage fare stabilization throughout the year.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That said, there are still issues that may affect those airfares as the year progresses. These include British Airways, American Airlines, Lufthansa Group,* Air France\/KLM, United, Qantas, Emirates, and Singapore Airlines. This is where TMCs can support clients to pull the right levers to meet their organization\u2019s needs with cost management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are always striving to obtain the best-priced ticket for travel available at the time of booking, and that will continue into 2026,\u201d Shilling adds. \u201cYet one challenge travel managers may face next year is the ongoing changes to some airlines\u2019 loyalty programs. While we find the best price, it may not align with clients\u2019 travelers&#8217; loyalty programs. As they balance the costs of their budgets, those in charge of corporate travel programs may need to incorporate conversations with their travelers around choices that prioritize personal reward over keeping down costs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How travel management companies (TMCs) can help<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>TMCs are essential partners when it comes to navigating rising airfares. As mentioned above, they offer access to broader content and negotiated fares through direct airline integrations. Plus support for sustainability goals, including CO2 reporting and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) options. And can offer guidance on balancing cost with employee wellbeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Airlines are continuing to invest in dynamic fare structures like NDC, through content, partnerships, and technology infrastructure. Where there are <a href=\"https:\/\/reedmackay.com\/us\/reed-mackay-american-airlines-ndc\">direct integrations with airlines available, such as those Reed &amp; Mackay supports&nbsp;with American Airlines<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/reedmackay.com\/us\/ndc-partnership-power-british-airways-reed-mackay-deliver-value-to-clients\">British Airways<\/a>, there is added access to richer buying choices and flexibility to manage these bookings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Meeting sustainability targets<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The quest to lower carbon emissions is another area driving positive change. The UK government is committed to supporting UK aviation on its journey to Net Zero by 2050. It recently awarded <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessgreen.com\/news\/4516630\/lift-britains-green-aviation-revolution-government-awards-gbp63m-sustainable-aviation-fuel-pioneers\">\u00a363 million to 17 projects focusing on SAF production, aiming to boost green fuel innovation<\/a>.
