This is the new deadline set by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) after delays due to the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What is a REAL ID?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The REAL ID Act establishes minimum security standards for license issuance at the federal level. Passed by Congress in 2005, in response to 9\/11 Commission\u2019s recommendation that the Federal Government \u201csets standards for the issuance of sources of identification\u201d. As of March 26, 2021, 55 states and territories are fully compliant with the REAL ID requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dhs.gov\/real-id\/about-real-id\">About REAL ID | Homeland Security (dhs.gov)<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How do I know if I\u2019m REAL ID ready?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If your state-issued driver\u2019s license \/ ID has a star (and\/or flag) or says \u00abEnhanced\u00bb, it\u2019s likely you have a REAL ID.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you hold a driver\u2019s license\/ID from a state not yet compliant, and you use it to clear TSA Security at airports when travelling domestically, you will need to show an alternative acceptable form of identification once the deadline passes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Find out if you\u2019re REAL ID ready with this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dhs.gov\/real-id\/are-you-real-id-ready\">interactive tool<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Alternative acceptable forms of ID include:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>U.S. passport or passport card<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>DHS trusted traveler cards (Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI, FAST)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>U.S. Department of Defense ID, including IDs issued to dependents<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Permanent resident card<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Border crossing card<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>State-issued Enhanced Driver\u2019s License<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An acceptable photo ID issued by a federally recognized, Tribal Nation\/Indian Tribe<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>HSPD-12 PIV card<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Foreign government-issued passport<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Canadian provincial driver&#8217;s license or Indian and Northern Affairs Canada card<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Transportation worker identification credential<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Employment Authorization Card (I-766)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>U.S. Merchant Mariner Credential<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Veteran Health Identification Card (VHIC)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Where can I find out more information?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the most up-to-date information, please refer to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dhs.gov\/real-id\">Department of Homeland Security website<\/a> or check out the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dhs.gov\/real-id\/real-id-faqs\">frequently asked questions<\/a> from the DHS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Get in touch<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Discover how we ensure travelers are prepared for anything.
